Hey, Guys.
Since one of our groups did the project on the rights we sign away without knowing it, and since on a larger scale this is what happened to Henrietta, I thought I'd throw this at you--and besides, probably good to know--Instagram has decided they can sell your photos without your knowledge or consent.
Dude.

Spring
Hey, Guys.
Right now, I don't have an English 24 in the Spring. My schedule still might change, and if so I will let you know here on the blog.
I still have 2 English 24's in the Winter (that won't change), and that information is still here on the blog.
But here's another option. I am teaching English 40, which is short fiction. It meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 M/W.
It's 3 credits, and would meet any humanities requirements you have (check with your advisers to be sure what you need, and how many credits). Although English 24 will still be a requirement for you.
It'll be a blast. (For those of you who aren't tired of me. :)
Numbers:
ENG40 Section: E01L Code: 2622, CunyFirst: 8994-10
Just an idea.

Classical Argument Final Essay
We'll discuss video essays and Henrietta on Wed, and have video essays due December 13. The classical argument essay you'll email to me for the final time (whenever that is). :)
From among the topics we've discussed, choose one that you have something to say about, something you can develop a prove-able point and argument around.
Classical Argument Format:
Introduction: Stylized and Dazzling
Background: Background information, historical information, groundwork (What is the basis of this argument?)
Argument: Probably 2 solid paragraphs
Counter-Argument: a nod to the other side, usually a paragraph
Rebuttal: countering-the counter argument "They have good points, but I'm still right because..." your best arguments should go here.
Conclusion: Stylized and Dazzling
Works Cited Page
You are required to incorporate 1-2 quotes per body paragraph, and have at least 3 different sources.

Sick Professor
Guys. I am sick. I am so sorry.
I won't be at school Tuesday. But I have an assignment for you.
Make a list of 5 ideas for topics for your video essays based on Henirietta and her Immortal Life. :)
Make sure that your topics have some angle, some perspective that you respond to. In other words, make sure you're PROVING something with your essay, don't just tell me what the book says. Don't just summarize.
Let's assume due date for Video Essays is the last day of class. December 13.
We'll discuss more and more fully when I see you Wed.
We do have the lab in M-110 reserved tomorrow if you want to work in there.
Remember to have finished reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by the time I see you again, and start reading Never Let Me Go so we can get that finished, too.
Sorry again.
